Why the Allocation Bottleneck Exists
Buffalo Trace Distillery produces a disproportionate share of the bourbon people actively hunt, and it can only make so much. Whiskey laid down today won't be ready for years, so production decisions made a decade ago set what's available now. Demand rose faster than anyone planned for, and the gap hasn't closed.
The practical effect is that Sazerac releases these bottles to retailers in fixed quantities rather than selling them on demand. That's why the same names keep appearing in bundles, and why rare and allocated whiskey moves as quickly as it does.
Where the Value Is
The interesting part of this portfolio isn't the bottles with waiting lists.
